4th IACAPAP Lunch & Learn Webinar

Numerous conflict zones are located in low- and middle-income countries. Exposure to wars, forced displacement, gender-based violence, and financial instability, can all contribute to a negative impact on the mental as well as physical health of individuals living in these fragile and conflict-affected settings (Shoib, Chandradasa, et al., 2021). Children in conflict settings are more susceptible to psychological stress, violence, hunger, and lack of basic commodities (Shoib, Javed, et al., 2021). In Sri Lanka, a 26-year-old armed conflict ended in 2009 (Chandradasa & Kuruppuarachchi, 2017). The relative stability over the last decade was unexpectedly disrupted by the Easter Sunday Bombings of Catholic Churches and luxury hotels in 2019. Due to the severe shortage of child mental health experts, practical low-cost methodologies were employed to provide an early response to trauma (Chandradasa et al., 2020).
